Homemade Truck-Loading Ramps

    • 1). Measure and cut the end of your plywood. You want to create a lip that will sit inside the truck bed so that the ramp can be slanted down toward the ground. Measure 1 foot down from the top of your plywood. Draw a line across the entire board and remove the top with your plywood saw.

    • 2). Secure the hinges to the lip. Place the hinges on the lip that you just cut. Using the screw driver adaption on your drill, drive the screws into the hinge until they are tight and secure.

    • 3). Attach the lip to the ramp. Secure the other side of the hinges to the plywood ramp in the same manner as above. The base of the ramp has now been created.

    • 4). Place the rubber mat over the plywood ramp. Cut away any excess over hang on the rubber mat using your plywood saw. Next, secure the rubber mat by nailing it down to the plywood. Several nails on each side will be enough to do the trick.

    • 5). Place velcro on the truck bed and underside of the ramp lip. Place the female end of the velcro on the edge of the truck bed gate (when in the down position.) And place the male end of the velcro on the underside of the ramp lip. This will hold the truck ramp securely in place as you load and unload items.
