Using a modified model of a former platform that featured a longer body, Chevrolet engineers redesigned the S10 pickups for 1994. The effort resulted in two new models -- a base and LS package -- that had the same wheelbases as previous model years, a redesigned dashboard, new console and more cabin space. - Both the base and LS models of the 1994 Chevy S10 pickup truck come with a standard 2.2-liter, in-line four (four cylinders) engine that produces 118 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 130 ft-lb of torque at 2,800 rpm. The base-model engine provides 20 mpg on city streets and 26 mpg on the highway. Also available are 4.3-liter, V-6 engines that produce 165 horsepower or 195 horsepower. Both S10 models come with a standard five-speed manual transmission, but a four-speed automatic is an option.
- The standard wheelbase for both models is 108 inches long, but S10s with extended beds feature a wheelbase either 118 or 123 inches long. Also depending on the model, the S10's overall length can be anywhere from 188, 202 or 204 inches, with a height of 61 or 64 inches and width of 67 inches. Inside the cabin, the truck offers 39.5 inches of headroom, 42.5 inches of legroom and 57.2 inches of shoulder room. In its most basic form, the S10 weighs 4,200 pounds, but with added features the weight increases to 4,600 or 4,650 pounds.
- Inside, the S10 comes with a standard bench seat, but the LS model also offers a bench with a 60/40 split. Though lacking in the base model, the LS has a center armrest, two-way controls for the driver and passenger seats and rear-seat access. The base model features vinyl seat trim and rubber front floor mats, and the LS model offers premium-cloth seat and door trim and rubber floor mats in the front and rear.
- Both S10 models come with disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the back, and available as an added feature is an antilock braking system. Steel wheels come standard, but premium wheels are available. The standard base and LS models come with 205/75 R15 tires, but the LS can accommodate larger 235/75 R15 tires.
