- 1). Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel with the caliper that needs to be replaced. Raise the vehicle and support with a jack stand. The lift point is immediately ahead of the rear wheel. Remove the wheel.
- 2). Follow the parking brake line to where it attaches to the caliper. Lift up on the end of the spring that attaches it to the lever and disconnect the cable. Unbolt the bracket that holds the cable sleeve to the caliper.
- 3). Unbolt and remove the caliper. Suspend it with a piece of wire to prevent the brake line from stretching, and remove the brake pads. The brake pads are connected with a pair of clips--one above and one below. Remove the caliper and hanging wire.
- 4). Install the brake pads into the replacement caliper. Unscrew the brake line from the rear of the old caliper and quickly install it on the new caliper to prevent unnecessary fluid loss. Bolt the caliper into place, torquing it to 20 ft-lbs. Reconnect the parking brake cable and bolt the bracket back onto the caliper.
- 5). Bleed the brake system and add brake fluid to the fill line in the reservoir.
