Pebble Beach, CA Physician Oversight In California Gets Low Marks: View From A Private Duty Caregiver Serving Carmel, Carmel Valley, Gilroy, Gonzalez, Greenfield, Hollister, King City, Marina, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Salinas, San Juan Bautista, Seaside And Soledad CaliforniaThe budget cuts at both the state and federal levels have hit the health industry hard, and unfortunately the quality of care has suffered in many cases. Doctors are busier, and if you have insurance that doesn't pay well (such as Medi-Cal), it's hard to even find a Doctor at all. I was sad to read, however, that physician oversight has also suffered. An article in the Monterey Herald this week said that patients are at risk from reckless prescribing by Doctors, due to a lack of oversight at the state Medical Board. The article went on to say that the Board seldom tries to suspend the prescribing privileges of physicians under investigation, and even when it sanctions Doctors, in most cases they don't lose their license. This is really bad news. If the Board isn't doing their job with overprescribing physicians, it's probably not doing a good job looking at physicians who should no longer be working. Some Doctors are overworked, struggling to make ends meet as they take on more patients to make up for smaller insurance company reimbursement rates. Others work well past retirement age and don't keep up with all of the current trends in order to be on the top of their game. It's an important job, and physicians need to be monitored closely to make sure they are on top of all recent medical trends and doing an excellent job.http://www.montereyherald.com/state/ci_22158378/report-reckless-prescribing-common-californiaAbout Richard Kuehn & Family inHome Caregiving:After more than a decade of caregiving, both in a professional environment and for a 97 year old family member I was dissatisfied with service from local caregiving agencies.
