- 1). Drive your vehicle up onto ramps or lifts so you have room to work as you pull out the oil pump. You could also use a jack, but make sure you brace the front wheels so they don't roll. In addition, set the emergency break firmly into position so the car doesn't roll.
- 2). Drain the engine oil into a pan and also drain the cooling system. Remove the upper and lower oil pans.
- 3). Remove the timing chain and take out the oil pump assembly. Avoid allowing dirt or any other contaminants to get into the oil pump assembly.
- 1). Insert the new oil pump assembly and put the timing chain back on.
- 2). Return the lower and upper oil pans to their previous positions. Add fresh synthetic engine oil.
- 3). Start your engine and check for leaks around the replaced parts. If there are no leaks, release the emergency break and any tire braces.
