- 1). Press the HomeLink I, II or III button you want to open the garage door or gate with. Continue holding the desired button until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly then release the button. The HomeLink button you selected is now ready to be programmed. The system provides up to five minutes to complete the programming process. Hold the handheld transmitter 3 to 5 inches in front of the driver's side headlight.
- 2). Hold the transmitter button down until the Audi S4 hazard warning lights blink three times; this confirms programming of the HomeLink button has been successful. If the hazard lights blink once, this means programming has failed or you've exceeded the five minutes for programming. You will need to restart the programming process.
- 3). Press the HomeLink button you've programmed while sitting inside the vehicle. The indicator light will do one of two things. A continuously solid light represents successful programming of the HomeLink button, and the garage door, or gate, should open and close when you press the HomeLink button. An indicator light that quickly blinks for two seconds followed by a continuous solid light denotes additional programming is required for a rolling code device.
- 4). Press and release the "smart" or "learn" button on the receiver of the garage door opener. This is usually located near the antenna wire. It is essential to note that the name and location of this button will vary, so refer to the owner's manual for your garage door opener for further details. Press and hold the HomeLink button you are programming, while seated inside the Audi S4, for two seconds then release. Repeat the hold and release procedure up to three times to complete the rolling code programming process. You will have 30 seconds to complete these steps after pressing the "learn" button; it may be easier to perform this step with the assistance of a second person.
- 1). Press the two outermost buttons on the HomeLink system.
- 2). Release the two outer HomeLink buttons when the indicator light flashes. Do not hold the buttons for longer than 30 seconds.
- 3). Make sure that the previous button programming has now been erased. Some vehicles will display a confirmation code that the buttons have been cleared. If you do not have a HomeLink display in your vehicle but have access to the original device that the HomeLink button operated, you can test the system by pressing the button. If properly erased, the button should no longer activate the device.
