- 1). Disconnect the car speaker at the amplifier.
- 2). Twist the copper end of one wire until of the strands are collected together with none hanging free. Perform the same function with the other wire.
- 3). Touch the positive speaker wire to the positive terminal on the 9-volt battery and the negative speaker wire to the negative terminal on the battery.
- 4). Watch the speaker when you touch the wires to the battery. If the speaker pops outward then the polarity is correct. If the speaker gets sucked inward, the polarity is reversed.
- 5). Switch the wires if the polarity is reversed. Reattach to the amplifier. The speaker will be installed in phase with the correct polarity.
