How to Eliminate Tomato Soup Stains on the Rug

Rugs are excellent to add to your home and one of the best things about it is that it makes the place more beautiful and attractive. Rugs though should be kept clean and tidy in order for you to be able to enjoy its benefits which is why rug cleaning is an important task for every rug owner.

This can be very difficult though especially since rugs can become stained and untidy fairly easily. Stains are a common occurrence and one of the worst stains that you could face on your rug is tomato soup stains.

Tomato soup is bright red in color and spilling it on your rug will surely lead to a very ugly stain that will ruin its appearance instantly. Don't worry though as there are steps that you can take to clean up this mess effectively. Try to read the helpful guide below and find out how you can clean up the tomato soup stains on your rug at home.

1. Start things off by using a clean sponge to absorb the spilled tomato soup out of the rug fibers. Clearing the spilled soup is the first step so that you can avoid it spreading to other portions of the rug while also preventing the stain to seep deeper into the rug fibers.
2. Once you have cleared the spill out of the rug, the next step is to use a homemade cleaning solution onto the stain. To make this solution, all you have to do is mix one teaspoon of white vinegar with a cup of warm water. Put this in an empty bottle and take it to the spot where the soup was spilled.
3. Pour some of the cleaning solution on the stained area of the rug and then leave it there for a few minutes. After this, get a clean white clot and begin to slowly blot the stain on your rug. The stain will slowly transfer from the rug fibers and onto the cloth which means that soon it will be completely gone.
4. Repeat the previous step until the entire tomato soup stain is removed. It could take several tries before you finally get the results that you are looking for but eventually your rug will be spotless once more.
5. Finish things off by rinsing the area that you cleaned with a cup of room temperature water and then dry everything using clean towels to get rid of any residue that could get left behind.
