- 1). Remove all the hardware from the top of the cooktop. Slide a flat screwdriver between the top of the cooker and the oven below to release the clips. Lift the cooktop on its hinges to expose the inner workings.
- 2). Find the ignitor near the burner that is not lighting. Scrub around the ignitor with a toothbrush to remove any dirt.
- 3). Remove the screw holding the ignitor in place using a nut driver. Slide the ignitor out of the metal bracket it sits in. Loosen the screws on the switch the ignitor wires are connected to. Pull out the wires and remove the ignitor from the stove. Insert the new ignitor and insert the wires into the new switch. Test the new ignitor.
- 4). Remove the knob from the front of the switch for the faulty ignitor. Pull up on the switch to remove it from the oven. Loosen the screws and remove the wires from the switch. Insert the wires into a new switch and tighten the screws.
