- 1). Set the two 75-inch-long beams on their 2-inch edges, lying parallel to each other on the floor, with their ends aligned. Position the outside edges of the beams about 30 inches apart.
- 2). Lay the 39-by-75-inch plywood sheet on top of the parallel beams, with the 39-inch edges aligned with the top and bottom edges of the beams. Center the sheet so that each 75-inch edge lies 4 1/2 inches past the outside edge of the beam on that side.
- 3). Secure the plywood in place by driving eight evenly spaced wood screws along the centerline of each beam. Drive the screws through the plywood and into the edge of the beam below, using the power drill and a screwdriver bit.
- 4). Sand all exposed surfaces of your bed frame. Paint the bed frame if desired. Let the frame dry overnight before placing a mattress on the plywood surface.
