1Measure one cup of rice for each person. Using a strainer, run cold water over your rice to remove any excess starch. Stir as you rinse because the rice tends to clump together.

Drain the rice. Set the rice to the side while still in the strainer to allow the excess water to drain off.

Add water to the rice pot. Use equal parts rice to water when cooking jasmine rice. So, if you have 4 cups of rice, use 4 cups of water.

Put the rinsed rice in the rice pot with the water. Cover and cook the rice over medium-high heat for 12 to 15 minutes.
