- 1). Open the Microsoft Word program on your computer. This article gives instructions for Word 2007. If you are running Word version 2003 or earlier, see the link in the "Resources" section of this article for step by step instructions.
- 2). Click on the option to create a new document. If you are running Microsoft Office 2007, you will see a small "white paper" icon located in the top left hand corner of your window. Just click on the icon.
- 3). Select the "Brochure" option. For the brochure type choose "Tri-Fold."
- 4). Click on the "Page Setup" option that is located on the menu bar.
- 5). Begin customizing the page layout for your three panel brochure. Some of the settings that need to be changed are the top, left, bottom and right margins. Set all the margins to "0.125." If you desire to add more margin space, feel free to do so. For the page orientation, select "Landscape." For the column amount select "Three."
- 6). Enter text and graphics for your three panel brochure. You can also customize the text and background color for your brochure by clicking on the coloring icons that are located on your Microsoft Word toolbar.
- 7). Click on the option to "Save" and "Print" your brochure after it has been created to your satisfaction.
- 8). Fold the ends of your printed brochure inward to create the three panels. After folding the ends, you should see three equal sections when the brochure is unfolded.
