- 1). Determine the theme and aesthetic style of your sales flyer. If your flyer, for example, is a Christmas sales flyer, decide on the type of graphics you want to use to create a Christmas design. You might want to use public domain clip art that you find online. Remember to save your clip art and other graphics, such as photos of your products, in a folder on your computer. It is helpful to create a rough draft of your flyer on paper before designing it in a graphics program. Gather all the information you need to include on your sales flyer, including text descriptions of products.
- 2). Choose a graphics program like Photoshop or GIMP (freeware) to create your sales flyer. Create a new document in the program you select. Go to "File" and "New" to do this. In the dialog box that opens pick the background type, dimensions and resolution for your flyer. If you're printing on standardized size flyer paper, plug these numbers in. A resolution setting of 300 pixels per inch is a good setting for any type of printed document.
- 3). Use the array of tools, image-adjustment options and filters to help create your sales flyer design. You can make use of tools like the "Custom Shape" tool to add various shapes to your flyer. Add text by using the "Text" tool.
- 4). Click on the "New Layer" icon at the bottom of the "Layers" panel each time you create new elements (Text, graphics, photos) in the program. If you open external graphics like photos or clip art and paste them into your document, each of these will automatically be placed on a layer without you having to do it. Using layers makes editing much easier. Make sure that images associated with a particular item in the sale are close to the text for that item to avoid confusion. Save your final design as a high-resolution JPEG.
- 5). Print your flyer or have it professionally printed by an office supply store. To have it printed professionally, copy the file to a CD and take it to the store. If you choose to print your flyer yourself, remember to purchase enough flyer printing paper and ink to complete the print job you require.
