- 1). Prune 'Golden Globe' arborvitae to the preferred shape in early spring.
- 2). Thin 'Golden Globe' arborvitae in early spring to allow sufficient sunlight to penetrate to the lower branches. Begin at the top of the plant and clip off any branches that spread out over the smaller, low-growing branches.
- 3). Trim the shrub lightly again in June or early July to maintain the desired shape.
- 4). Cut back all new foliage to prevent the shrub from outgrowing available space in the yard or garden.
- 5). Remove damaged, diseased or dead branches as you notice them. Do not prune diseased foliage during wet weather, as this could encourage the fungus to spread.
