- 1). Put on your protective shirt, safety glasses, face shield and leather gloves to avoid injury from the wheel's wire strands, which can often eject from the base during use.
- 2). Insert the wire wheel into the 3/8 drive drill motor. Secure the wire wheel by locking the drill's chuck.
- 3). Depress the drill's trigger. Stand the wire wheel vertically. Place the narrow end of the wire wheel against the surface of the metal. Move the drill vertically, starting from the highest points on the metal and working to the lowest part. Spend extra time at weld joints, which can accumulate a lot of paint and rust.
- 4). Thoroughly inspect the entire surface of the metal to ensure that you have cleaned it. Regrind any areas where small pockets of paint or rust hide on the underside of the metal.
