- 1). Draw a 12-inch or larger diameter circle on the leather, using a compass. Draw a 2-inch diameter circle in the center of the larger circle.
- 2). Cut out the two circles, using leather scissors or a craft knife and mat cutter.
- 3). Place the leather circle with the grain side up.
- 4). Cut a 4-inch long tail in your leather, starting in the smaller center circle and working clockwise. The tail should be as thin as you want your lace.
- 5). Thread the tail through the slot in the lace cutter so the grain-side of the leather faces the top of the lace cutter. You may need to use a pin to push the leather tail through the hole.
- 6). Hold the lace cutter in your non-dominant hand like you hole a bicycle handle, with the top of the cutter facing in.
- 7). Pull the leather tail toward you with your dominant hand. The lace cutter cuts a continuous, even lace.
