- 1). Measure the length and the width of the cabinet to determine the correct size for the shelves. The shelves should fit squarely into the cabinet housing. Record those measurements.
- 2). Draw out the shelves on the piece of plywood. A full 4-by-8 sheet should be more than enough wood to build several shelves. Use the carpenter's square to draw the corners of each shelf to make sure that they are at 90 degree angles.
- 3). Use the circular or hand saw to cut the shelves out of the wood.
- 4). Place the shelves inside the cabinet housing in the desired locations. You may need to make some measurements if the shelves need to be evenly spaced. Use a level to make sure they are straight.
- 5). Screw the shelves into the cabinet from the sides. If the back of you cabinet is a solid piece of wood, place a couple of screws into the shelves through the back.
