- 1). Line the bottom section of the broiler pan with aluminum foil and spray the top section of the broiler pan with non-stick spray.
- 2). Arrange the oven rack to position the steak 6 inches from the heating element and preheat the broiler unit.
- 3). Place the steak on the broiler pan and set it on the oven rack. Leave the door of an electric oven slightly open when broiling.
- 4). Broil the first side until it's as browned as you want it to be.
- 5). Put on oven mitts and pull out the broiling pan. Turn the steak with tongs.
- 6). Return the steak to the broiler and finish cooking, using an instant-read thermometer to determine doneness. Beef steaks should register at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit, or medium done, to be considered safe to eat.
