- A 20-foot waterfall into a large pool, Abram Falls is a often-visited landform in the Great Smokies. The 2.5-mile trail leading to the falls is well-maintained and easy to navigate. The falls at the end of the trail are a great incentive to keep going, too, so this attraction is especially popular with families with children and with seniors. The pool at the bottom of the falls has a strong undercurrent, so visitors are not allowed to swim.
- The Eye of the Needle is a hole in the rock near the top of Little Duck Hawk Ridge. The best view of the Eye of the Needle is reached on the Alum Cave Trailhead. After you've hiked for two miles from the trailhead, you'll reach Inspiration Point. You'll see Eye of the Needle again another tenth of a mile up the trail.
- The Luftee Knob summit is located in Swain County, North Carolina. The elevation of the summit is 6,214 feet above sea level. The Balsam Mountain Trail starts at Pin Oak Gap on the Balsam Mountain Road. This trail is a great starting point for a hike that leads not only to Luftee Knob but also to Laurel Gap Shelter and Big Cataloochee.
- Famous because of the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant song, "Rocky Top, Tennessee," Rocky Top is the first summit on Thunderhead Mountain. If you start hiking at the Anthony Creek Trailhead, you'll soon come to Rocky Top and can continue on to the two other peaks on Thunderhead Mountain. Hike to Rocky Top in mid-June, and you will see hundreds of rhododendrons in bloom on the lower sections of the trail.
- Nearly 12 miles from the Sugarlands Visitor's Center, The Sinks is a huge tourist attraction in the summer months. This waterfall is easily accessible because it's so close to Little River Road, and there's a nice, large parking lot right next to it. At the base of the waterfall is a swimming hole, and tourists like to jump off the rocks beside the waterfall into the pool below.
