- 1). Decide what you want your announcements to say. You can be as formal or informal as you wish. Include important and pertinent information, such as your name; the name of your school, college, or university; the degree you are receiving; your major and minor (if applicable); any honors and/or awards you will be receiving; and the date, time, and location of the commencement ceremonies and any receptions. You may wish to draft your text on paper before proceeding.
- 2). Check to see whether your invitation kit includes a web link to an invitation template. If so, simply download the template and insert your drafted text. If not, use a word processor application (such as Microsoft Word or Wordpad) to format your text. Use boldface type, italics, and varied font sizes and styles to add emphasis where appropriate.
- 3). Add a digital photo at the top of your announcement, such as one of yourself, your school or an object associated with your major. You can also use a piece of clip art as a decoration or download your school's logo from the school's website. Alternatively, leave enough blank space at the top of your announcement for a stamped image.
- 4). Print your announcements on the invitation blanks included in the invitation kit. You may need to adjust the paper feed mechanism or the paper tray to accommodate invitation blanks of non-standard sizes. If you are using a rubber stamp, do the stamping after you print the announcements.
- 5). Mail your homemade, yet professional-looking, graduation announcements to family and friends.
