Make reservations as far in advance as possible, especially in the spring, summer and early fall season when visitors are plentiful.

Make time to see the new Four Winds Casino Resort, owned by the Pokagon Band of the Potawatomi Indians, which has 165 rooms and suites, as well as six restaurants, entertainment and retail shops, not to mention the casino. Enjoy the food at Brewster's Deli and Cafe in downtown New Buffalo, which is an Italian gourmet delight. For steak and prime rib lovers, there's Skip's Other Place, along with many other restaurants for every type of diner and appetite.
- 4). You won't want to miss the shopping, which includes everything from independently-owned shops downtown featuring the work of local artists, gourmet food shops and one-of-a-kind clothing stores. There's even a dollar store.

And don't forget the biggest attraction of all--Lake Michigan, which provides plenty of activities year-round, even if it's just winter walks along the beaches, or the public boat launch and docks. In summer, activities on the lake are endless. The area's wineries host tours and tastings year-round and annual festivals. The artist colonies and arts organizations offer shows, exhibits and other seasonal events.
