By now you probably know that almost 9 years ago I changed my whole life.
I went from having an unhealthy relationship with food, and a non-existent one with exercise to a lifestyle that is very much appreciative of health and its benefits; a life that enjoys feeling active, energetic and in charge.
Although I was not experiencing any health issues (yet) and I was enjoying a very rewarding home and work life, I knew that I could not keep going at the same rate I was going for long without experiencing some physical ailments, not to mention issues around self-confidence and assertiveness.
The problem in my opinion was just that.
I was not morbidly obese, yet for my whopping 5-1" frame, I was way overweight.
I had never appreciated the concepts of healthy eating and while I could have written a book about dieting, I had not taken responsibility for myself up until that time.
I am thinking about my own journey these days after the news announced earlier this week that the fitness legend Jack Lalanne had passed at the age of 96.
His black and white image on TV is classic and who could forget his famous finger pushups? Jack Lalanne, whose mantra was "Long Life Living Long" was always leader and pioneer of a lifestyle that embraces health and fitness.
I admire his sense of commitment and passion to share that with others, hence I wanted to share some of my favorite Jack Lalanne's quotes: · Exercise is King, nutrition is Queen, put them together and you've got a kingdom · People don't die of old age, they die of inactivity · The food you eat today is walking and talking tomorrow and, · Anything in life is possible and you can make it happen With his devotion to 'ignite change and promote fitness' Jack Lalanne not only preached the message of living healthy; he truly lived it.
I absolutely love that once he decided to change his life at age 15 he really went to town with it.
That concept of "anything in life is possible and you can make it happen' is truly transformational.
It has the potential to change your life not only as it relates to your health and wellness (which in my opinion will impact your whole life anyways) but at work, in your relationships, in your finances and in any challenge you might be experiencing.
Believe it.
If you want it you can have it.
It takes dedication and hard work, but it is possible if you make the commitment.
I hope that these words serve to inspire and motivate you because I know you can make it happen.
My challenge to you is get up and walk, move, do something.
Whatever is within your possibilities today, just do it.
Start building momentum and enjoy the energy that comes from feeling good about yourself.
