- 1). Set up the dryer rack in a warm spot in the house that gets plenty of air circulation. Washing machines can typically sit in the basement or the garage of the house, not ideal for drying clothes. Move the rack to a sunny spot in the house or near a heater vent. On a nice day, set it outside.
- 2). Lay lighter or smaller garments on the inside rungs. Underwear, light linen shirts, and kids' clothes dry fairly quickly. Leaving the outer rungs for heavier clothes increases efficiency.
- 3). Hang thicker clothes on the outside of the rack. Towels, blue jeans, and cotton t-shirts take longer to dry and need to be placed where they get the most exposure to heat and air circulation.
- 4). Remove clothes as they dry to give the other clothes better access to the surrounding heat and air. You may be surprised how quickly some clothes dry in relation to others.
