Comment Spam Spam is an unfortunate reality on the Internet and in email.
The spammers often use spam to link to useless websites, promotional garbage or unwanted domains.
This is done to attract a higher page ranking in search engines such as Google, to be sold at a higher price later or for existing websites.
Spammer's motivation is money so these individuals work hard to get their unwanted information out there.
This can be overwhelming but most blogging software programs include tools to overcome Comment Spam.
Pretty Permalinks A Permalink is the permanent URL that corresponds to a specific article in the blog or any other URL that is part of your website or any other website.
This Permalink is how another blogger will refer to the article (or section), or how a link would be sent via email.
Because this information will be passed around, consistency is desired giving it the name Permalink, for permanence.
For example, a default Permalink: /index.
php?p=512 This is a Permalink but it doesn't tell the reader or blogger any information about the posting.
"Pretty" Permalinks provide some cohesive information.
Example: /archives/2005/07/26/my-new-mustang/ This Permalink tells the reader where they are going (archives), when the article was written (2005/07/26) and what the article is titled (my new mustang).
When Permalinks are created coherently, it is possible to "hack" to modify the link text in the browser.
Meaning that the user can assume if they use the URL without the title, they will get all articles from 7/26/05, if they modify the Permalink to /archives/2005/07, they will be directed to all archives from July, 2005.
Link Manager The Link Manager manages all links to other blogs or websites that the owner wants to offer to his or her readers or audience.
These may be broken down into categories such as 'cool sites', 'my favorite blogs' or 'people who pay me to put their link here', for example.
Blog by email Some blogging softwares offer the ability for the owner to write a simple email that will directly post to the blog without using the blogging interface at all.
The post will be published instantly and all that was necessary was for the owner to use his or her email.

A Few Basic Blogging Tips 1.
Post early and often! Unless you have nothing to write about, then wait until you do.
2.
Try to have some kind of cohesive content- style, subject matter, attitude.
Don't post all over the place, generality is boring and no one will want to read you.
3.
Concentrate on what you want to write about and/ or communicate to an audience.
Don't get wrapped up in adding 'subscribe to this blog' or 'vote me!' all over the place, striving for blogging fame.
At least wait until people are reading you.
4.
Keep it clean and simple 5.
Do it for yourself! Read around to other blogs, be part of the community, create comments and drum up a dialogue.
People will normally check you out to see what you have to say.
6.
Enjoy and have fun!
