Cottage style homes have a fresh, comfortable feel to them. You can decorate your front door to emphasize the style of cottage decor in your home, whether it is a shabby chic cottage, beach or lakeside home, or a Cape Cod type cottage setting. Cottage homes utilize lace, white or pastel colors, floral, vintage, and rustic or country patterns to give the ambience of a place you want to enter and stay for a while.

Front doors give the first impression of your cottage home. Do not settle for boring paint colors for this type of home. Use burgundy, lime green, warm corals and even lavender paint to liven up your entryway. You can find stained glass, wisteria or other floral patterns, etched glass or a lattice look in window clings. Alternately, you can hang lace or white sheer curtains over your door glass to give your cottage a French country, romantic or lakeside touch of freshness.
