- 1). Shut off the sprinkler system's main water supply.
- 2). Open all manual drain valves.
- 3). Open the boiler-drain valve or the drain cap on the stop-and-waste valve to drain the remaining water between the backflow device and the irrigation water shut-off valve after the mainline is clear.
- 4). Open the backflow-device test cocks.
- 5). Pull up on sprinkler heads equipped with check valves to drain any water left in the sprinkler bodies.
- 6). Close all manual drain valves once the water has finished draining.
- 1). Shut off the sprinkler system's main water supply.
- 2). Activate a pressure-release station to lower system PSI.
- 3). Open the boiler-drain valve or the drain cap on the stop-and-waste valve to drain the remaining water between the backflow device and the irrigation water shut-off valve once the mainline is clear.
- 4). Open the backflow device test cocks.
- 5). Pull up on sprinkler heads equipped with check valves to drain any water left in the sprinkler bodies.
- 6). Close all manual drain valves once the water has finished draining.
- 1). Shut off the sprinkler system's main water supply.
- 2). Open the vacuum-breaker test cocks and the supply-line drain valve.
- 3). Close the drain valve once the line has been cleared of water.
- 4). Attach the air compressor hose via the hose bib, quick coupler or similar attachment located before the backflow device with compressor valve closed.
- 5). Activate the bleed station on the controller connected to the sprinklers furthest from the compressor and highest in elevation.
- 6). Open the compressor valve slowly until the sprinkler heads rise from the bodies and seal, up to a maximum of 80 PSI.
- 7). Repeat the process for each of the stations, from the one furthest away to the one closest to the compressor.
- 8). Turn off the compressor and release any remaining pressure.
- 9). Disconnect the compressor from the system.
- 10
Open and close the backflow-device isolation valves continuously for 10 to 15 seconds. - 11
Close the isolation valves about halfway and leave the test cocks completely open.
