Okay folks, $250K is at stake. We’re down to Roger, Kelly, and the two comeback kids: Mark and Ali. Mark interviews that he is in it to win it for his brother Jay, who was the last one eliminated. Kelly is shocked that she was able to make it to the final four. Ali wants to be the first female Biggest Loser. Ya’ll know I’m all for girl power. I’ll take either Kelly or Ali, doesn’t matter to me. Just want ‘em to beat the PRIDE boys…
This time though, it’s like a walk in the park. They meet up with Alison, who reminds them that this is their last week at the ranch and they will have to depend on what they’ve learned since there will be no trainers. Then she tells them to get changed and meet back with her because they are going to meet an old friend. Kelly is exhausted after their 14-hour flight, and wonders how they could possibly face a challenge, but she’s also ready to knock the guys out of the competition. When they return to meet Allison, they see a table with four trays and Rocco shows up. But is he cooking this time?
She did not taste it though. Girl power = Will power! Mark’s wife told Rocco that he used to eat an entire tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream on his shelf (stomach) every evening. My butt expanded just typing that, but it’s cool. Mark didn’t eat any, and Rocco is gonna show us how to cut the calories in half. Ali’s mom told Rocco that she’s a steak and potatoes kind of gal. Prime rib and baked potato with all the trimmings to be exact. Rocco tells them that he is going to make all of the dishes over in a healthy way.
For the pepper steak, Roger substitutes balsamic vinegar for the red wine and brown rice instead of white rice. Originally, his mom’s recipe contained 1700 calories. The new version contains 385. For the chicken alfredo, Rocco uses chickpea flour instead of regular flour, and only egg whites and skim milk. Down to 500 calories from an original 1300-1500. Ali can still have her steaks, but instead of prime rib, she’ll be eating lean tenderloin, 6 oz. to be exact, and using a Mexican salsa to add flavor. That’s a grand total of 511 calories instead of her usual 1500. As for Mark’s ice cream, he’ll need to buy an ice-cream maker, and use fat-free yogurt, skim milk, and gelatin. Down from 810 calories for three scoops to 270. Not bad at all. If it tastes any good. They all sit down to dinner and Mark gives a toast, and almost…CRIES. I know I ragged on him for being so hard in the first few episodes, and he’s learning to show his emotions, but damn. It’s not like his favorite pet died. He just learned how to make ice cream.
Later, they all hit the gym to get in a workout without B&J. Kelly works her ass off (pun intended). Ali is thinking about making sure at least one woman makes the final three. Roger says he’s turning a negative (not having a trainer) into a positive, and Mark asks, WWBD? (What Would Bob Do?) Well, Mark….Bob would tell you to drop and give him 10 more.
Ali and Mark are out of the gate like racehorses. Roger over shares that he’s used to seeing Mark’s ass because he’s always behind him. I am sure that although he keeps chanting PRIDE!, that he truly means the challenges. Ali struggles with the extra weight, and Roger is able to get ahead of her on the beach, now even closer to Mark’s, well, you know. In the end, Mark is the first up the mountain with his flag, followed by Roger, Ali and then Kelly. They all hug and congratulate each other without Mark crying. It’s such a proud moment, until they do a PRIDE! on three. Just couldn’t leave well enough alone.
BACK ON CAMPUS
Back in the USA, the remaining players take the same hike up to the ranch that they did in episode one. This time though, it’s like a walk in the park. COOKING LESSONS
Rocco informs them that he has spoken with their loved ones back home and prepared their favorite dishes. Roger is presented with his mama’s pepper steak. I don’t eat pepper steak, so I don’t know if that’s one word or two, but I know it looked heavy on calories, and Roger did take a bite. Kelly’s mom told Rocco to prepare her some chicken alfredo, complete with a side of garlic bread for dipping. She did not taste it though. Girl power = Will power! THE LAST CHALLENGE
For the season’s last challenge, the players meet Alison on the beach. Next to them is a large wooden box. Alison recaps the last few weeks for us in yet another attempt to stretch the show to two hours. Then she says that inside the box is their greatest adversary. Prepare to meet the enemy!.. As 8-8-08 flashes across the screen again, I start to wonder: are the Biggest Losers going to participate in the Beijing Olympics? Just a thought since we have to see it every now and again. Back to the box. The walls come tumbling down, and inside stands a dummy wearing a fat suit. Yes, the contestants will put on fat suits, be weighted down with the exact amount of pounds lost so far, and have to run down the beach, shed the weight, grab a flag and then run up a mountain (they called it a hill, but I know a MOUNTAIN when I see one) to reach Alison, who I’m sure was whisked up there via helicopter after they took off. The winner will receive Biggest Loser meal plans back at home prepared by a BL Chef everyday until the finale. They will also receive $10k.Ali and Mark are out of the gate like racehorses.
