- 1). Click on the "Start" menu.
- 2). Click on "Computer" or "My Computer," depending on your version of Windows.
- 3). Double-click the "C:" drive to open it.
- 4). Open the "Users" folder and then the folder with the name of the user whose IE history you would like to recover. The "History" folder should be stored under the "Local Settings" folder.
- 5). Open the history folder by double-clicking on it and see if any files are inside. It should be empty if Internet Explorer history was deleted on purpose, but, if the deletion of IE history happened as a result of a virus or another glitch, the files may still be in the "History" folder.
- 1). Go to the "Start" menu and click "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools" and "System Restore" to open the computer's "System Restore" feature.
- 2). Click the "Next" button to see the list of available restore points. In older versions of Windows, such as XP, you must select the option "Restore my computer to an earlier time" before clicking "Next."
- 3). Select one of the restore points from the list provided and click "Next." Use the calendar or the "Show restore points older than 5 days" option to see more restore points for the system if you need to go back further in time.
- 4). Click the "Finish" button on the final page of the "System Restore" wizard. The system reboots automatically and restores your computer to its condition on the restore date you chose.
