Law of Attraction
The law of attraction, simply stated, says that your long standing chronic thoughts - those thoughts that are mulling about inside your head 24 hours a day, seven days a week, will eventually manifest in the real world - Like attracts like.
There is some debate as to how those manifestations happen. Some say it is metaphysical in nature, others say it is purely psychological. Yet others state that it is a mixture of the two. However what nobody argues about is the fact that it happens. Manifestations follow thought as surely as night follows day.
Unfortunately most people not only do not control which thoughts they entertain, most are not even aware of the thoughts that constantly occupy their every waking hour. The consequence of this ignorance is that their lives are created by their manifestations, which in turn are created by their random (usually negative) chronic thoughts.
Evidence that this law works is clearly shown by the phenomenon of the "Self fulfilling prophecy". In a self fulfilling prophecy the negative chronic thoughts of a person result in the very situation that the person fears.
For example:
A man fears his wife will leave him. This fear occupies all his waking thoughts 24/7. Because he fears she may run away with another man he becomes very jealous and interrogates her every time she so much as looks at another man. Because he fears that her friends might lead her astray, he prevents her from seeing them. He is afraid to let her out by herself in case she should not return so he restricts her movements and accompanies her everywhere. The stress on his wife becomes intolerable - and she leaves him. His chronic thoughts (my wife will leave me), eventually manifested in reality and the manifestation (albeit unwittingly), was created by himself.
Another example:
A woman is afraid of going into hospital. This fear occupies all her waking thoughts 24/7. Because she fears that going to the doctors with a medical complaint may lead her to going into hospital, she plays down any illness she has and refuses to see a doctor about anything. Her reluctance to seek medical attention for her complaints, means that relatively minor illnesses (that could have been nipped in the bud by her family doctor) grow out of control and result in serious debilitating illness which requires Hospitalisation. Once again, her chronic thoughts (Hospitalisation), eventually manifested in reality and the manifestation, was created by herself.
In this way we constantly create our own reality. Chronic thoughts become real. Most people - like the two examples above - allow their random, unregulated thoughts to create their lives for them, then bemoan their circumstances little thinking that they themselves have created those circumstances.
The law however, makes no distinction over whether your chronic thoughts are positive or negative in nature. Whatever is kept in your mind will manifest.
If those chronic thoughts were instead carefully cultivated to be positive thoughts of success and abundance instead of negativity and fear, then the same powerful mechanism that rolled into action to ruin the lives of our two examples above, would instead have produced lives of success and abundance. No extra effort would be needed, no extra resources would have been required. The rise to greatness would have been as effortless and unstoppable as the above examples descent into disaster.
