The Painted Cork is a truly unique experience in both downtown Sacramento and historic Folsom. Combining wine tasting with the opportunity to learn how to create a quality canvas art piece, the Painted Cork is the original Paint and Sip of California.
About the Painted Cork
This classy destination is perfect for a first date, ladies night out or a unique birthday party experience. In fact, it’s actually ideal for any occasion – even if you’re just celebrating the fact it’s the weekend!
At the Painted Cork, you will enjoy your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, some snacks and the chance to socialize while learning to paint your own masterpiece.
Perhaps the biggest draw (pun intended) of The Painted Cork is the fact you don’t have to possess any prior art experience. Even those who are unable to paint stick figures will find success at one of the structured sessions.
How it Works
Choose a scheduled art class from the calendar on their website, and plan to arrive 20-25 minutes early to grab a good seat and get settled. Bring in your favorite snacks and drinks, or purchase something from one of the many restaurants in the area.
Organize your provided art supplies, which will include a canvas along with brushes, paints, aprons, etc. The artist of the day will come onstage promptly at start time and will instruct all guests through a step by step process to make their own painting. Classes range from 2-4 hours long, as there are breaks in between some steps to allow time for paint to dry and for artists to stretch their legs, refill drinks and socialize.
When the class is done, you will have your own masterpiece to take home and display. You’ll be truly amazed at what you can accomplish in just a few hours, regardless of past art experience.
Different Options
Two Hour Painting Class – This is the shortest session available and focuses on a simpler painting with a long break in the middle of the class. The two-hour session is the most affordable, so it’s a great introduction to The Painted Cork, and the paintings turn out just as beautiful as longer class session selections.
Three Hour Painting Class – The most popular of the three options, the three-hour classes cover a huge array of subject matter ranging from wine bottles to landscapes. You may even be invited to replicate the stylings of a famous artist. This is also the best option if you are planning a private party like a birthday or ladies night out, as it involves a lot of breaks for social time.
Four Hour Painting Class – The four-hour paintings are not necessarily more difficult than the shorter classes – they just have more elements and details that require more time. This long session includes comfortable chairs in lieu of the traditional artist stools in the shorter classes, as well as the opportunity to learn how to replicate many pieces of fine art like Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Prices and other FAQs
The Painted Cork has various pricing structures, and the only way to really know how much a particular session costs is to select the picture from the calendar you wish to sign up to paint. Standard classes are $35 and $45, but there are usually specials each month for specific sessions, as well as some that cost more because they are more expansive. The website offers $35 and $45 gift cards for those looking to make a session a gift – this will cover a basic two or three-hour session in most instances.
