- 1). Insert the skeleton key.
- 2). Jiggle the key around until it has completely entered the lock. If your skeleton door is old or rusty, you may find it difficult to insert the key on your first attempt. Be patient and take your time. Avoid pushing the key forcefully into the lock and instead ease the key in slowly.
- 3). Spray a penetrating oil, such as WD-40 or even baby oil, into the lock to help the key slide in.
- 4). Turn the key until you hear the door lock. Remove the key.
