  If you are traveling to or from Canada, it is important that you avoid surcharge fees that will come with using your regular cell phone in the United States or Canada. The best way to avoid this problem is by getting yourself a calling card. There are many different cards that have an especially low rate to call to and from Canada and, depending upon your travel situation, you can decide on the best one for you.
  
  

Centisble Calling

• This calling card company dispenses with the traditional physical card (as everything is set up online or over the phone). There is no change in the rate whether you are calling from home, your cell phone, or your office. There are also no taxes, fees, or surcharges. You can call Canada using your card for one cent per minute, but you cannot use the card to call within your area code.
  
  

World Calls

• Another inexpensive calling card, World Calls costs you 1.4 cents per minute to call Canada. There are surcharges and maintenance fees which add to that price a bit, but unlike some other cards, you can dial locally when you are within a country (you can call Canada from Canada), and there is an iPhone application that works with the card (called World Access) which makes the card simple to use with an iPhone.
  
  

Titan

• If you need to call Canada frequently over the course of a few weeks, the Titan may be for you. It boasts the cheapest rates at 0.7 cents per minute, but it has a 99 cent weekly fee. The cheap rate does not change whether you are calling a landline or a cell phone, and it is rechargeable. The card expires within 90 days and does not have a local access number.
  
  

Ruby Plan

• If you are traveling back and forth between Canada and the United States in a short period of time, try the Ruby plan. While there is a 99-cent weekly fee, the calls to Canada cost 0.9 cents per minute and calls from Canada to the United States cost two cents per minute. You can also call domestically for one cent per minute in either country.
