- Children can learn Bible stories through art projects.artists at work image by Tammy Mobley from Fotolia.com
The Bible is packed with stories that Sunday School children can relate to and hear God's message through. Creating meaningful and colorful art projects for children to complete helps keep their attention focused on the story at hand and instill in them meaningful lessons from the miraculous books of the Bible. - Children can learn about compassion and kindness by creating handcrafted greeting cards for those in the congregation who are sick or need encouragement. Have the children color images from Bible story coloring books, cut them out and then glue the image to folded, card-sized construction paper. Each child can write in an inscription on the inside and then sign his name.
- Enlist the children to help decorate an entire classroom with the story of Noah's ark. Paint the walls a festive blue color. Add a brown border at the bottom of the wall to mimic the planks of the ark. After the paint is dry, take a wide-tipped marker and draw the outline of a parade of animals, two by two, from elephants to zebras to owls, going all the way around the perimeter of the room. Make them sized proportionately to the other animals. Have the children color in the animals and name them.
- The children can color in a cartoon likeness of Jesus holding hands while walking with little children to incorporate into a pastoral scene on a large board. Children from the church decorate the background, gluing blue construction paper for the sky and green construction paper for the grass. They an create clouds from cotton balls and glue them to the blue papered background. Children color their favorite picture of Jesus, along with a description of their favorite story, and paste or glue it to the board.
