- The first stage of divine revelation was the covenant with Noah after the flood. God revealed himself to Noah, instructing him to build the ark. After the flood, there was a promise of grace based upon shed blood of animals in the form of burnt offerings to God. Groups of nations formed based on their own language and families for social prosperity. God's covenant to Noah was to show favor to his descendants and to gather all the children of God scattered abroad, and remained in force through the times of the gentiles until the universal proclamation of the gospel.
- The second stage of divine revelation is when God chose Abraham and declared him the father of a multitude of nations and formed his people of Israel. God promised to bless all of Abraham's descendants, and said that the promise would be in effect until the day God called all his children to the unity of his church. This covenant included all gentiles who became believers.
- The third state of divine revelation was when God formed his people of Israel after they were freed from slavery in Egypt. After Moses led them out of captivity, God made a covenant with Moses on Mount Sinai when he received the Ten Commandments. God provided these laws to teach his people to serve the one true God and to provide salvation for all nations.
- The fourth divine revelation is God revealing himself through his son Jesus. Jesus said everything that needed to be said to the people. God no longer revealed himself to prophets. After Jesus' death and resurrection, the apostles began to preach God's word as promised by the prophets in the Old Testament.
