Virgo likes to discern and discriminate, analyze and delineate. These approaches help to yield the gleaning of its intention: to not only have a finer understanding of the physical world but to also impart a sense of working order that reduces chaos and inspires efficient manifestation.
Where we need to be careful when Virgo energy runs strong—as it does now with the Sun located in the sign of the Virgin (August 20th to Sept 20th), is to ensure that we don’t forget about the probable when we consider the possible.
If we are inclined to strive for the Virgoan goal of “perfection” as we try to inspire betterment, it is important for us to clearly remember that this is an ideal and not necessarily a human reality.
It’s important that when our focus turns to remedying, that we cut ourselves—and others—some slack and watch out for the slippery slope from critique to criticism, from attentiveness to abject worry.
This approach can be helpful in reducing a tendency towards anxiety that Virgoan energy can inspire. Since Virgo reminds us of the mind/body connection, mental upsets can readily cause us feel this discord in our physical health, notably in the digestive system, which is ruled by this sign.
If you are looking for a way to inspire some calm and energetic equanimity, there are some wonderful natural approaches that can be beneficial. Given that Virgo, as the sign of the harvest, has a propensity to all things natural, earth-based wellness recommendations may find themselves extra attractive during this time.
Lavender:
Revered throughout history for its stress reduction properties, lavender—governed in medical astrology by Virgo’s planetary ruler, Mercury—has also been found to have anti-anxiety and relaxation benefits in medical research.
The essential oil of lavender can be a very handy way to enjoy this flower’s offerings. Inhaling it throughout the day, misting your environment with a lavender/water mixture, or adding a few drops to a bath are some ways to enjoy it.
Cardamom:
This warming spice is calming to both the mind and stomach. Adding it to curry, stir-fry or baked goods recipes are some easy ways to incorporate it into your meals. Steep some in boiling water and add a touch of honey for a soothing aromatic tea. Cardamom also comes in essential oil form.
Pine flower essence:
This natural elixir can help to quell self-criticism that may become catalyzed during the Virgoan season. It can inspire a sense of self-acceptance and forgiveness that can be incredibly healing. (Flower essences are made from flower-infused water and work energetically to restore emotional and mental balance. You can find them in natural food stores or holistic pharmacies.)
As always, Be well, Stephanie
