How to Convert Word to Adobe PDF With No Watermarks

    Remove the Watermark

    • 1). Open the document in Word.

    • 2). From the Page Background group on the Page Layout tab, click the "Watermark" button.

    • 3). At the bottom of the Watermark Gallery, click "Remove Watermark." This will clear the existing watermark from the document.

    • 4). For easy access to the Remove Watermark command in the future, add it to the Quick Access toolbar just above the ribbon by right-clicking on "Remove Watermark" and then choosing "Add to Quick Access Toolbar."

    Download the Add-In

    • 1). Before you can convert the document to PDF, you must make sure the free Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS Add-in for 2007 Microsoft Office programs has been installed. If you're not sure, go to the Office Button, Save As and look at the Save As menu options. If PDF or XPS is not listed as an option, then the add-in has not been installed.

    • 2). Using your favorite search engine or from Microsoft's Download Center, search for "Save as PDF or XPS" to reach the download page. Click the link to download and follow the on-screen instructions to install the add-in.

    • 3). Once installed properly, the Save As menu will show PDF or XPS as format options.

    Convert to PDF

    • 1). To convert your document to Adobe PDF, from the open document go to the Office Button and choose "Save As." From the Save As menu choose the PDF or XPS option.

    • 2). At the Publish as PDF or XPS dialog box, verify that the Save As Type field has been set to PDF. If not, click the list arrow and change the option to PDF.

    • 3). Type the desired filename in the File Name field.

    • 4). Choose Standard or Minimum sizes in the "Optimize for" section to set the quality of the PDF. Click on the "Options" button to choose the page range of the PDF file and to determine which properties and elements of the document (if any) should be excluded. Click "OK" to accept changes and close the Options dialog box.

    • 5). From the Publish as PDF or XPS dialog box, select "Open file after publishing" to view the PDF file in a separate Adobe window once it has been published. Double-click the folder you would like to save the published PDF file in and then click "Publish." The PDF will open in a new window momentarily.
