- 1). Turn off water at the main shut-off valve.
- 2). Hold the pipe close to the valve in one hand. Place your other hand firmly on the valve. Pull and twist the valve at the same time, away from the pipe--remember that after installing the pipe to the valve, you have a 30-second window of opportunity or less to remove the valve, before the glue sets. If it won't budge, the pipe will have to be cut to remove the valve.
- 3). Mark the CPVC pipe five inches away from the valve--use a felt tip pen. If the valve is attached to the pipe at both ends, mark the pipe five inches on both sides of the valve.
- 4). Place a pipe cutter around the pipe at the mark(s) and squeeze the cutter handles together to cut through the pipe.
