- 1). Shut off the electrical power to the ceiling fixture location at the breaker panel or fuse box.
- 2). Mark the desired track position on the ceiling surface. Use the ceiling electrical box location as the reference point, either as the power source from one end of the track or at a centralized point. Measure the dimension from the electrical box to the nearest wall line, then make parallel marks at both ends of the track position. Connect the two track end marks using a chalk line.
- 3). Pull the circuit wires from the ceiling electrical box. Connect the wires from the track lighting's junction box cover adapter to circuit wiring. Use wire nuts to attach the two white wires together and the two black wires together, then connect the green wire from the track junction box to the bare copper wire in the ceiling box to complete the electrical connections.
- 4). Push the wiring connections into the ceiling electrical box, then attach the track junction box cover adapter to the ceiling electrical box with the bolts provided using a screwdriver. Tighten the screws until the cover is held firmly against the ceiling, making certain the connector or connectors are aligned with the track layout line chalked in Step 2.
- 5). Align a section of lighting track with the chalked layout line and the end connection slipped onto the junction box cover's track connector, which provides power to the track section, then use a pencil or awl to mark each screw hole location in the track section on the ceiling along the chalk line marked in Step 2. For multiple track sections, complete the mounting of one section at a time, beginning at the junction box, then move on to the adjacent track section.
- 6). Remove the track section and drill a 5/16-inch hole at each screw center marked in Step 5.
- 7). Separate the butterfly toggle nuts from their bolts, then insert one bolt into each hole in the track section through the channel side. Attach the butterfly toggle nuts loosely onto the end of each bolt inserted through the track section.
- 8). Hold the track section up to the ceiling, aligned with the chalked layout line, then push each of the butterfly toggle bolts into the adjacent ceiling hole drilled in Step 6. Slide the end of the track section fully onto the junction box connector, then tighten each of the toggle bolts until the track section is held firmly against the ceiling's surface.
- 9). Complete the lighting track installation by repeating Steps 6, 7 and 8 for each subsequent section of track being installed, making sure that you insert each track section fully onto the adjoining track connector before you tighten of the butterfly toggle bolts.

Install the track's light fixtures by inserting each fixture's base into the track channel, then twisting the bases to lock them into place. Set each light's direction by turning the fixture's swivel arm as desired. - 11
Install a light bulb into each track light fixture. - 12
Restore the electrical power to the track light location at the breaker panel or fuse box.
