Dallas is the third largest city in Texas and is home to the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers. The city was founded in 1841, and many activities and attractions can be found here. Some activities include going to the Dallas Zoo, enjoying a day or two at the State Fair and visiting the Dallas Arboretum. - The Dallas Zoo was founded in 1888 and has over 95 acres to explore. When coming into the entrance of the zoo, there is a giant giraffe sculpture that stands 67 ½ feet tall. The zoo has a monorail that travels up high for views of animals you can only see from the monorail. The monorail is an additional fee to ride. This zoo has two acres designed just for children for hands on activities, a petting zoo and much more. It offers event rentals, birthday parties and two food courts. The zoo also has a gift shop and a carousel featuring endangered animals.

dallaszoo.com - The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is located on the shores of White Rock Lake. It features over 65 acres of manicured lawns, blooming flowers and lush trees. The Arboretum hosts many festivals and special events. Wedding, receptions, birthday parties and much more can all be done at the Arboretum. The property also has the DeGolyer Mansion, which is a Spanish-style hacienda built in 1940 by oil baron Everett DeGolyer.

dallasarboretum.org - The State Fair of Texas is open each year from late September to the middle of October. The 277 acre site is located in Fair Park and has been hosting the State Fair since 1886. It has livestock shows, amusement rides, games, art competitions, outdoor musical events, college football games and much more. The Texas Star Ferris wheel is approximately 212 feet tall and is the largest Ferris wheel in North America. You can get almost any kind of food you can imagine, as well as fried bacon, chocolate covered bananas, fried Twinkies and so much more.
