Bottom Line:
This debut release from independent artist DeAnne Moore packs a punch. Her vocals are pure and delivered from the heart. She may be the new kid on the block, but she has a wealth of experience to bring to the table and she's here to prove that it's Never too Late.
DeAnne Moore is a single mom who has worked hard to provide a good life for her kids. She lives her life with the attitude that it is never too late to make your dreams happen and not only is that the title of her debut album, but just making it happen has been proof of that.
While music has always been her first love, she took a life detour along the way. She's a Texas girl, born and bred and she knows how to make things happen in a big way. She's lived in LA and London while pursuing a range of careers that only helped fuel her desire to perform. She has appeared on TV, in motion pictures, commercials and print ads. She proved she wasn't just another pretty face when she was the host of a nationally televised show dealing with the stock market. Her magnetic personality allows her to be right at home onstage while entertaining appreciative audiences.
In a surprise upset, renowned Nashville Critic Robert K. Oermann named Moore as the winner of the DisCovery award beating out national television star and major-label comer Julianne Hough.
Even though her music is a complete independent release, it is still making a huge impact in the industry. The single making the waves was "Cowboy Talkin'." It is a very well written song in which a cowboy dropping a standard pick up line to a pretty girl gets more than he bargained for when she turns the tables on him with a few questions.
She wants to know if he can back up his silver buckle or if he is just another long-neck rodeo. Is it the whiskey or the cowboy talking? Definitely a song that could catch on in the dance clubs and it generated a bit of airplay around the country.
Her current single is "Fool for Love" and she is on a radio tour now to promote it. This one is a ballad that really catches your attention. She has an amazing voice and knows how to use the emotion. I can see this one catching on like wildfire if given a chance.
Moore has a traditional sound with contemporary lyrics appealing to the current generation. She sings songs that she can relate to as a part of her life experiences. Along with a great voice, she also co-wrote three of the twelve tracks on the album including one of my favorites, "Spring Chicken." It's a fun tongue in cheek story about older women and she says they are 'a grown up version of your wildest dreams.' I loved it. Just because someone has a few years under their belt is absolutely no reason to write them off.
"Mama's Green Eyes" was a fast moving song about two people from very different backgrounds who fell in love. She was the result of their love and she inherited the wildest traits from both and simply loved being who she was.
She recorded the Joni Harms hit "I Need A Wife" and had a good time with it. Even though most women work as many hours as their husbands, many are still expected to come home and keep a spotless house and have dinner on the table. So the song takes that theory for a fun spin.
And while she has a fun time with the lighter songs, she can hold her own just fine on the more serious side as well. "Wrote That In Blue" is a touching song about a young girl whose father is off at war and they write letters back in forth with crayons. The words 'I Love You' are written in blue.
"I Ain't Through" was another favorite of mine on the album. I love songs featuring strong women and this one says she ain't through, she's just through with him. She's done with his lies and rotten attitude and now she's single, happy and free.
Moore has a great voice and this is an album that is well worth checking out. It may not be a major label release, but it can hold its own in the stack. Her spirit seems to soar wild and free while she is singing and you are drawn into the music right along with her. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of DeAnne Moore in the future.
