- 1). Plug the DSL modem's power supply into a power outlet if it isn't plugged in already and turn on your modem. Some modems do not have a power switch but are automatically turned on when you plug them in.

Plug a telephone cable into a phone outlet and connect the other end to the phone jack on the back of your modem. - 3

Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the DSL modem and connect the other end to an Ethernet port on your computer. Wait one minute while the connection configures itself. - 4). Restart your computer and log in to your user account.
