How do I Clean the Internet Browsing History Files on a Mac?

    Safari

    • 1). From the menu bar go to "Edit" and select "Reset Safari."

    • 2). In the "Reset Safari" dialog box, click all the boxes you wish to clear or rest. The options are: Clear History, Empty the cache, Clear the Downloads window, Remove all cookies, Remove all website icons, Remove saved names and passwords, Remove other AutoFill form text, Clear recent web searches and Close all Safari windows.

    • 3). Click the "Reset" button after you've made your selections.

    Firefox

    • 1). From the menu bar go to "Tools" and pick "Clear Recent History."

    • 2). From the "Time range to clear" pull down menu, select how long of your history you wish to clear. It defaults to "Last Hour." Other options are: Last Two Hours, Last Four Hours, Today and Everything.

    • 3). Click on the arrow to the left of "Details."

    • 4). Click on the boxes to determine which items will be cleared in your selected time frame. The options are Browsing & Download History, Form & Search History, Cookie, Cache, Active Logins, and Site Preferences.

    • 5). Click "Clear Now."

    Opera

    • 1). From the menu bar, click on "Opera," select "Preferences" and click on "Advanced."

    • 2). From the left hand column, click on "History."

    • 3). Set the "Remember visited addresses for history and autocompletion" to 0 and click the "clear" button.

    • 4). "Memory cache" to "Off," "Disk cache" to "Off" and click "Empty Now." You can also click the "Empty on exit" to have your cache automatically cleared after every use.

    • 5). Click "OK."

    Chrome

    • 1). From the Menu Bar, click on Chrome and select "Clear Browsing Data."

    • 2). From the "Clear Browsing Data" window, pick the items you want cleared. The options are Clear browsing history, Clear download history, Empty the cache, Delete cookies and other sites, Clear saved passwords, Clear saved form data.

    • 3). Click "Clear browsing data."

    Internet Explorer 5

    • 1). From the menu bar click "Explorer."

    • 2). Pick "Preferences."

    • 3). From the "Web browser" section, select "Advanced."

    • 4). In "Cache," click on "Empty Now" and click "OK."
