- 1). Click the "Start" button, right click "My Computer" and click "Properties to launch the System Properties dialog box, if you are using Windows XP. Click the "System Restore" tab and click the box to place a check mark next to "Turn off System Restore on all drives ." Click "Apply," click "Yes" and "OK" to save your changes. This disables System Restore.
- 2). Launch your anti-virus program and select the update option to install the latest updates. Run a full system scan. Delete all the malicious parasites your program detects. Download, install and run AVG or Avira if you do not have an anti-virus program (see Resources).
- 3). Click the "Start" button and click "Run." Type "regedit" and press "Enter." This launches the Registry Editor. Alternatively, you can click "Start" and type "Run" in the search dialog box.
- 4). Click the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder, the "Software" folder, the "Mozilla\" folder, the "Firefox" folder and the "Extensions" folder. Right-click "sample@example.net" and click "Delete."
Delete the following registry entries as well:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\"[RANDOM CHARACTERS]" = "rundll32.exe "%Windir%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].dll",e"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\[RANDOM CLSID]\"(Default)" = "%Windir%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].dll"
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\[RANDOM CLSID]\"(Default)" = "%Windir%\[RANDOM CHARACTERS].dll" - 5). Close the Registry Editor. Re-enable System Restore, if you are using Windows XP. Click "Start" and select "Restart."
