- 1). Remove all packaging materials and manuals from the oven. Check the flooring in the range location. If the flooring is soft and will be affected by heat, cover it with ¼ inch thick plywood. Fasten one end of the stability chain to the wall, just above the floor, using the long screw and washer supplied. Ensure it goes in at least ¾ inch.
- 2). Use an adjustable wrench to back out the four leg levelers and adjust them to the height of the counter top. The flanges or rims below the sides of the cooktop must be raised above the level of the counter top. Carefully slide the range into the installation space to check it is clearing the counter top.
- 3). Place a spirit level or a glass measuring cup filled with water on one of the oven shelves to check that it is level. If using a spirit level, take two readings with the level placed diagonally first in one direction and then the other. Adjust the four legs carefully. Level the range from front to back and from side to side. The range legs must rest on the floor. The range must not hang from the counter top. Pull the range part way out to make the gas connections.
- 4). Check that the oven shut-off lever at the back of the range is in the open position. Apply pipe joint sealer to the male threads on both flare unions. Install ½ inch flare union adaptor to the ½ inch NPT elbow on the pressure regulator on the back of the range. Connect a flexible appliance connector to the flare union. Move the range into an approximate position and join the flexible connector to the house gas supply line with a second flare union adaptor. Check that all range knobs are turned off.
- 5). Assemble the burners. Place the burner head onto the burner bowl. Line the location of the burner head up with the location of the spark igniter. Place the grate over the burner assembly and burner bowl. The indentation of the bowl should match the location pin on the bottom of the grate.
- 6). Turn the gas supply on and smear a liquid leak detector over all gas fittings to check for leaks. If bubbles are seen, turn off the gas supply and tighten the connections. Turn the gas back on and check again. Be sure all leaks are stopped before finishing installation.
- 7). Attach the anti-tip chain to the stability bracket which is attached to the back of the range. Plug the three prong plug on the range cord into a properly grounded three-hole outlet in a standard 120 volt circuit. Slide the range into position, taking care with the gas connections. Tighten the anti-tip chain as you push it back in.
