Calla lilies grow from bulbs that cannot withstand cold temperatures. For best growing results, the bulbs should be planted in an area with morning sun and some afternoon shade. If you live in an area where it freezes, even occasionally, you should dig the bulbs up before the first frost and place them indoors. They can be replanted in the spring after the last frost.
