To this day I can still remember the first book I read, it was a book by Eric Carle called €The bad tempered ladybird€. I would have been seven years old at the time. This book was about a ladybird that took pleasure in picking fights with animals with ever-increasing size, until it finally fights a whale. This fictitious book reminded me a lot of the Biblical story of David and Goliath. I was especially touched by what God told Samuel when he sent him to Bethlehem in search for a new King. God said, €€¦the way he looks does not matter to me, I look at the heart.€ I have carried this small part of scripture since that gentle age.
And its significance has never brought more value to my life than more recently. After giving my life to the Lord, I value prose writing that is based on facts, real events, and real people. Fiction books, while it evokes feelings, thoughts and imagination, it simply is not €real€. G. Trevelyan quoted €Education€¦ has produced a vast population able to read but unable to distinguish what is worth reading.€ This is sadly the truth today.
I now read mostly non-fictional books, mainly Biblically oriented books, and sometimes biographies or practical books to help boost my career knowledge or to assist with gardening. The onus is on the parents, guardians, leaders and education system to train our youth to read the right kinds of books. Fiction books may draw out your imagination but non-fictional books give you a world of knowledge that you can apply to reality not to vivid fantasy.
Today I read books purely for meaning. I certainly find inspiration in my Biblical choice of books. Reading Biblically oriented books has become a form of meditation for me. One book I would like to share with you is called €Understanding your potential€. Myles Munroe invites you to discover the untapped wealth of your potential ability and rise above your past experiences to unearth hidden treasure within. €Potential€ people may tell you that have a lot of it; others may tell you that you are wasting it, while others may tell you that you have none. Yet few people know what potential is.
Far less people realize that discovering your potential allows you to change your fate, redefine your destiny and change your life process of developing your potential. Reading this wonderful book €may' change your life but understanding your potential €will' ultimately change it! I encourage you to read this book or the many others that are offered on this site or links.
The Lord has altered my life through this marvelous author and he can do the same for you too.
