Elmo is the red, furry monster from Sesame Street with a child-like approach to life. He has become a favorite character with young children and is often the focus of many children's parties. If you are planning an Elmo-themed party, you can draw inspiration from toys and from the show to create an original and festive centerpiece. - A simple centerpiece can be made by using Elmo stuffed animals and other toys. Place a large Elmo doll in the center of the table and tie some balloons to his wrists. Either use red balloons or Mylar balloons with Elmo on them. Then, place alphabet blocks around him. You could also include crayons on the table.
- You can use a cake or cupcakes as your centerpiece and then later serve it as the party dessert. When planning your dessert, you can either make your own or have one made to your specification at a bakery. If you decide to make your own, consider purchasing an Elmo shaped cake pan at your local craft store. Once you've baked your cake, you can use a pastry bag with a star-tip to frost the hair on Elmo. The same frosting method could be used to make individual cupcakes for placement on a cupcake tree. You can also carve cakes into the shape of Elmo, or you could make a sheet cake and pipe alphabet blocks on it and top it with plastic Elmo figurines.
- Another option is to invest in an edible centerpiece. These are centerpieces created out of cut fruit, arranged into different shapes or in themes. Order an Elmo-themed centerpiece and place it in the center of the table. Or you could have a cookie bouquet made of Elmo-themed cookies. Either way, the finished product will not only be visually attractive but also a snack for the guests.
- On Sesame Street there is a segment called Elmo's World, which takes place in a crayon drawn house. Elmo's pet goldfish, Dorothy, is a part of Elmo's World. You could create your own Dorothy inspired centerpiece to tie Elmo's World into your party. There are two ways to create a Dorothy centerpiece. The first is to fill a fish bowl with light blue gelatin and place a plastic gold fish in the center of the gelatin. The guests can then eat the gelatin as a treat. The other option is to place a live goldfish into a large glass fishbowl.
