I work from home for a national health insurance company. A few weeks ago (mid-December, 2011), I was sitting at my home desk on a conference call, which was for training for a new position I'd received. My desk is quite cluttered: to the left of my desktop is a bunch of nail polish bottles and a few bottles of nail polish remover. My desk is against the wall on that side, so I always lean the nail polish remover bottles up against the wall.
As I was sitting here listening to the call, one of my bottles of polish remover moved. It wobbled as if someone had poked it, but not hard enough to knock over. It just wobbled back and forth. Since I wasn't typing or touching the desk at all, I couldn't figure out why it had moved.
I've had other experiences in this house, but never thought much about it. I believe in the paranormal, but I also believe a lot of things can be debunked. So I decided to test what was happening.
Loudly I said, "Okay, you have my attention now. If there really is someone here, knock that bottle into my garbage can." The garbage can is directly under the area with all my nail junk. So I waited and waited, and after about two minutes the bottle toppled over and fell into the garbage can!
Again, I was not touching my desk. I even pushed my chair farther away from it. After it fell into the can, I picked it up and put it right back in its original spot, which was far enough from the edge of the desk for it to just lose balance and fall.
I tried moving my desk to make the bottle shake as it had done the first time, but the desk is too heavy.
So how and why did it happen? I really don't know, but I always keep an open mind.
