The Rise of E-Commerce: Start Sending Money Online or Be Left Behind

The new face of commerce is online. Why keep making trips to the store when you can shop from your living room, always be sure to find what you need at the lowest price, and have it shipped to your door? Cash is disappearing while more and more people are choosing e-commerce. With so many ways to send money over the internet, there's no reason to be stuck in the past any longer.

A New World

It wasn't so long ago that the internet was new and exciting, a curiosity full of possibility. Now it has been around long enough now for an entire generation to have grown up in its shadow. The fact that so many people think of the internet as a fact of life has a lot of implications – how we learn, how we communicate, and how we do business have all been changed forever.

The internet is one of the building blocks of the modern world, an indispensible part of the foundation upon which technology and industry stands. Because of it, the digitalization of communication has spread to all parts of the business world. Paper is becoming obsolete - online banking is the preferred way to pay bills and view bank statements, while cash is becoming increasingly unnecessary in a paperless world.

At the point of sale, payment cards and even cell phones are increasingly preferred, while the finance industry now has the infrastructure in place to allow consumers to easily go online for their commercial needs. With e-commerce, shoppers can purchase almost anything they want, from almost anywhere in the world, right from their homes by sending money online directly to the seller, and as a result cash is becoming more and more redundant.

How to Send Money Online

Cashless payments pre-date the internet, beginning when credit cards became widely accepted in the 1950s. The credit card networks developed at the time have helped to lay the foundation for modern online finance and are still used today to support both credit and debit transactions around the world. Until recently, most online transactions were made with credit cards, but now there are many ways to send money online.

With payment platforms and e-wallets, people anywhere in the world regardless of their financial credentials can now choose from several ways to send money online. An e-wallet allows you to store money so that you can transfer funds and make online purchases anytime, anywhere – and, unlike credit cards, you can make payments without having to share any personal financial information.

The advantages of e-commerce are clear – the added choice and convenience, the lower cost, and the ability to shop securely all add up to make online shopping the obvious choice. If you aren't already sending money online, now is the time to start changing the way you look at commerce.
