About 10 years ago, the big Malibu Fires in the Santa Monica Mountains burned from Las Virgines Road at the 101 Freeway all the way to Malibu.
The fire was wind driven by the notorious Santa Ana winds.
The fire was so intense it left a literal hell through the mountains.
This prompted me to create the Neighborhood Arson Watch Patrol Program.
About 7-years after the program started, with the help of an intern, who was working with the Santa Monica Police Department Chief helped me re-write and upgrade it.
Eventually she was accepted into the Fire Department.
The new plan was to be promoted through the Municipalities and local government.
Originally, I had it presented to the California League of Governments about 10-years ago.
It should be used more.
I have visited so many places where it would really make a difference.
Usually, the program is reviewed and then it is modified by the locals, the report is just the baseline to start with so they can customize it for their communities.
To help promote this Arson Plan today, I use our Online Think Tank website, but I have written about 10 articles on the subject and thus made this information available to the World.
The report is listed on a couple of websites for Fire Fighting Industry.
It is a simple solution, and a component that is needed in the over all scope of Fire Fighting.
Education + Prevention + Equipment + Mobilization + Funding = Reduction of Lives Lost and Property Destroyed The fire that was over 10-years ago now, was one where we almost lost a home in the early 90's.
Turned out to have been started by a couple of volunteer fire fighters, I say burn them at the stake! This is what prompted me to write the Mobile Arson Watch Program.
Once the plan was in place the Santa Monica Mountains did not have a fire for 10-years.
